SportStar MAX
SportStar MAX
Overview
The SportStar MAX and its predecessor, the SportStar Plus, have been on the market and flying in Australia since 2004. The aircraft grew out of the European version - the Eurostar - and was designed from the start to satisfy the stringent Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) standards applied through the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). These standards were introduced in the USA back in 2003 and apply to every aspect of the construction, safety and flight of LSA aircraft.
The SportStar has the honour of being the first LSA to be formally accepted and approved both in the USA (2004) and Australia (2006) - no mean feat at a time when the FAA and CASA were checking and double-checking every aspect of what was then a new category of aircraft.
There are currently well over 50 SportStars flying in Australia, on both the RA-Aus and CASA registers. Many of them are in flying schools, where their robust construction makes them well suited to the rigours of flying training.
Two Australian registered SportStars have the distinction of being the highest flight time SportStar aircraft in the world, with over 3,500 logged hours and 15,000 landings each.
This aircraft is tough and rugged!
