Evektor SportStar - dare we compare?
Naturally, we believe the SportStar is the best Light Sport/Recreational Aircraft in its class! The document below (which you can download by clicking on it) tells you in detail why we believe the SportStar is so good. In case you haven't time or don't want to read the whole document, here is a summary:
- no other aircraft in this class has glued/bonded as well as riveted joints, with all rivets mastic filled before painting to keep out moisture
- control surfaces are rod-operated (not cables) with full length piano hinges for strength and accuracy
- lesser aircraft rely on anodised aluminium for corrosion proofing; the SportStar also uses etch-primer on all internal surfaces
- cabin is easily the biggest in class with over 118 cms of elbow & shoulder room. There are sun visors (plus an optional sliding sun screen) and NACA scoop-fed eye-ball vents, which blend hot and cold air to keep you at your preferred temperature.
- cabin floor is flat and safe to put bags - they cannot get trapped under the controls
- main baggage is stowed low behind the seats, with a retaining net
- fuel capacity is a class-leading 120 litres, giving a 7+ hour duration at normal cruise
- wheels are 15x6x6 low pressure for soft landings on hard or soft surfaces
- toe brakes both sides are standard, with steerable nose wheel for positive directional control
- warranty is 2 years or 200 hours
- in every other respect, the SportStar is at least as fast/slow/safe/economical as its main competitors
- finally: just fly one! You'll be delighted by the handling
